Some in China were also irked by parts of President Obama's inauguration speech, which they took to be an indirect attack on China. Several official translations of the speech omitted the passages that talked of defeating "communism and fascism" and criticised the "silencing of dissent". CCTV, China's main television network, cut away from the speech to an anchor after the comment about communism.
